Yeah, LIGS history certainly goes back, and significantly predates me. I've been around since 2008, played exclusively DOD with LIGS then. Mainly GunGame server, some Omaha. Since then some L4D2, CoH, CS:S, WoP, BF3, WoT, and other games. But mainly DOD and L4D2.
Made a lot of solid connections here...miss you guys, those still around LIGS and those that have moved on for one reason or another...

Day of Defeat Omaha server (the beach) brought me here...moved to the Winters server, then Insurgency for a bit before calling =Ligs= Call Of Duty Servers my final resting place...good times.

LIGS started as a CounterStrike Server, we even had a couple Clan weekend parties in Conn. in the Back of Masher's Computer store / warehouse.... Sparky, Hocka, Rustybullets, Masher, Stilllearning, Armax1980, Azcur, Dickhead are the names I can remember off the top of my head
I arrived on the beach late 2008 or beginning of 2009, joined the forum in Feb 2009 and was approached by Trapper to become a -ligs- in April of the same year. I primarily became part of Alpha Company supporting the Omaha server, though I was also part of the effort to start up successor to the Winter server running the classic/stock DoD maps, as well as becoming part of the MP.
After that I think I got involved in just about everything the community went through, be it server builds, training, administration...

Yep, I'm still around Dice, I miss you, Mac, Backup et al. We had a lot of great nights gaming together.
I've been around Ligs since 2004-2005, when I found the DoDs beach server. At that time there weren't any Ligs members, they were all LI, Rusty, Leadpoison, Marshall Lucky, Sheriff, Zap, Red Menace, Masher and a few others I can't recall their names but what a great group of guys who enjoyed gaming and eventually brought me into Ligs as an LI.
Then I met Evilchild. He was staioned in Korea at the time, I think 2007? I worked nights and would get home around 5:30AM eastern time. Evil and I would get the server populated and it would stay populated. That beach server was pretty much a 24/7 server, it was almost always full. We had a lot of great games on that server and we had a lot of fun. You could never have a bad day there.
Gun game was never for me. The reflexes weren't strong enough to play that.... That being said, we had a lot of great members become a part of Ligs via gun game. OG Fee, Kiand, Poacher, Frodo etc., really good people and really a lot of fun to game with.
But the winters servers. We had some really good maps and we had a great bunch of guys playing on the winters servers. Those were some good times. That's were I met a young man named Makoa... He's a blast to game with. I also met Dice and a whole slew of great guys and of course Crab...
To integrate the players from Winters and the beach we started some tourneys which were a lot of fun as people from the beach met the people from winters. Then of course the second time around we had Slash run the tourneys and he was making up rules as he went along? The best was when I think it was Dice's team blocked one of the entrances with haystacks against Slashes' team and he was infuriated. It was a lot of fun to watch.
Then Insurgency came along, in Beta. It looked like it was going to be a great game, we had a couple of servers up and running but the game had issues and CoD4 came along and most of us went to CoD4. Crialma and Bgrizz tried very hard to keep insurgency going but in the end it ran out of steam.
So as we all migrated to CoD4, we had a solid group of players from Ligs joining in every night. CoD4 should have been the next big thing for Ligs but we had one person who convinced Sparky to mod the server, which at the time we didn't realize, people could not find our server. Then CoD5 came out and we lost our chance to have a big impact in the CoD field. Nevertheless, we had a hard core group who were done with the beach and stuck with CoD. I had a lot of good nights gaming with this group of players.
The beach was always the backbone of Ligs. Gun Game was second as far as player population went but new games always come out and when Left for Dead came out. A lot of us went to play L4D. We threw up a couple of servers and had many years of fun between L4D and L4D2. Watching Deadlygirl charge was a blast. Oz, Frodo and Evilchild were naturals for their leaping ability. Og just couldn't be killed. Watching Whip run to the safehouse while his teammates were stuck fighting the horde lol... We even played in an Alienware tourny against an all female team, broadcast live around the world. I'm sure Macomber would love to tell that story...
I think Ligs reached it's apex during the L4D era as we had the beach and gun game servers fully populated. L4D servers were humming along. A strong CoD contingent. We had a lot of members at the time. It was a great time at Ligs because you could go to any of the games and find a bunch of Ligs players and have a blast no matter what game you were playing. To me, that was the highlight of Ligs, so many choices of gaming and and full servers, with lots of Ligs members.
Good people have come and gone and new people come in. The one thing we always had was a good camaraderie. Ligs is a great place to be a part of. Although Ligs membership is not as high as it once was. We still have some great old members around and some great new members. I think that's why Ligs has endured for so long, we always found great people to be a part of the community. Just watch the videos posted by Kass and you get an idea of the fun we had on a nightly bases.
I commend Thorsdal for keeping Ligs going. Thank you Brian for giving us a place to call home.
Awesome vids Kass...Wings of Fail brings back some memories for sure, thanks for that. Still flyin the 109 in IL2-Cliffs of Dover, Heavy was just tagged over at ATAG (Air Tactical Assault Group) of which I have been a member for a number of years now. So here is one of the better video`s from another community that runs historically accurate missions...it`s a long one Kass but very well done.
(Bonkin, the producer, actually had a Bristol Blenheim skinned in caution yellow and black stripes as a camera plane to get some of the shots...he still may have taken a few rounds though.)
PS. Bravo, ping me in steam sometime...we have a lot of catching up to do!
Hi guys Don't know what brought me here. Thinking back to all the good times I used to have gaming with all you. On a whim I have come to see that ligs is still around. Well I have a wife and 2 kids now that keep me busy 24/7. Almost like the old Omaha server! Hope all is good with all you and your families. It was a great time and I wish we could roll back time and have 1 more good round on the beach
