Armored Warfare is a similar game to World of Tanks - you run tanks, you shoot tanks, you unlock tanks, and off you go.
There are a few big differences between AW and WoT though - the biggest being:
A: The tanks are Vietnam Era to Modern.
B: Gold appears to be only used for Battalion(Clan) creation, conversion(XP and Credits), and Premium Time.
C: Runs on CryEngine (Don't know if 1, 2, or 3)
D: There's a PvE mode. Credit earning is half of PvP, but experience is roughly the same.
They've announced that it's in open beta, so there will be no more wipes - and we have a battalion up.
AW has announced Territory Wars will be coming to the game, but as of right now, it's just PVP and PvE.
Tanks may also have special abilities. They are:
Smoke Grenade Launcher: Self Explanatory
ECU Override : Engine limits turned off for five seconds, 60 second cooldown.
Designate Target: Designates a target and keeps it lit for twenty seconds. Any damage dealt to this target will be maxed out (in terms of damage range. I.E, if your shell normally does 300-500 damage, your shells will always do 500 to a designated target, provided it penetrates.)
(Not Released Yet) Suppression Fire: When suppressed, firing does not reduce your camo penalty. This is planned for tank destroyers, and like the ECU override, will only work for a short period of time followed by a cool down
There is also a base building mechanic, where every day you get 100 materials and can use that to build up your base. Each building has its own buff, such as reducing repair costs slightly or reducing the amount of gold needed to buy premium time.
